Today, majorities across partisan, demographic, and regional groups say they are following news about the gubernatorial election either very or fairly closely. The shares saying they are following the news very closely is highest among residents in Republican districts (39%), Republicans (30%), whites (29%), and adults with incomes of $40,000 to $79,999 (29%). Recalled test session conductor Lynne Gross, "The comment I remember occurring most often was that it was a one-joke show—nothing but a bunch of mother-in-law jokes."The network tried to persuade Rosenthal to make the show more "hip" and "edgy," but Rosenthal refused. CBS disliked this premise for being more exposition-based than a "typical episode." It took Rosenthal four more attempts at coming up with the pilot for CBS to give him the go-ahead to write the screenplay. She is a bubbly and confident woman who was raised in a family of devout Protestants, who live in Pennsylvania.
However, Frank vowed to never be physically abusive towards his sons, never enforcing corporal punishment on them and never engaging in anything more than yelling at them. She has saved a little money on the side every day and admitted to Debra that she collected over $46,000 since her wedding. She is also shown to actually control the family's finances in front of Frank, who always thought he was the one in charge and remained oblivious to much of her savings or expenses. The character has also appeared in the King of Queens episode "Dire Strayts".
